Lessons Learned from Earth Day 2010

March 20, 2011

With 120 people involved, we managed to clear Francis State Beach and Kelly Street of over 200 pounds of garbage and recylables.  We also enjoyed time saving a few crabs, finish all of Sam’s wonderful clam chowder (feeding a few homeless in the process), and get some visitors pointed to those businesses that supported our inaugeral effort.  Especially popular was our wonderful afternoon and evening of post clean up celebrations!  The goal of positively impacting economy, ecology and society was indeed achieved!

In organizing the Kelly Street Clean Up, I learned a lot.  In implementing it, I learned even more. And in seeing everyone jump in with such great energy I became even more energized and inspired!  What a great community effort!

Thanks to all those who participated last year and to those about to jump aboard for this year!
Regards,

Joe
